The Mishimoto BMW S58 Cold Air Intake Kit is designed to improve airflow, enhance throttle response, and increase turbo sound for the G87 M2, G80/G81 M3, and G82/G83 M4. With high-flow filters and optimized intake tubing, this kit helps your S58 engine breathe more efficiently for improved performance in both stock and tuned applications. A direct-fit upgrade, it delivers better airflow and an aggressive induction sound for your G8X BMW.

The M3 has undergone significant evolution over the years, with each new iteration bringing something new to the table. From the brilliant widebody E30 of the eighties to the exotic sounding V8-powered E9X, each generation has its own identity but holds true to the goals of providing an amazing driving experience. The G8X gets one of the most potent engines produced by BMW to date, the S58B30, along with an option for AWD. Enhancing the S58 was something we set our sights on soon after acquiring a G80 of our own, the first project being our air intake system.

Airbox volume, shape, and construction material all play a part in delivering maximum airflow to your engine. Our engineering team created extremely precise rotational-molded thermoplastic airboxes that eliminate restrictions, supply maximum cool-air entry via two additional ports that open to the wheel wells, and improve engine bay aesthetics. The use of thermoplastic material ensures the air intake system will incur minimum engine bay heat soak and provides unmatched durability for years of service in the harshest environments. Our airboxes were designed using the latest in 3D printing, CAD modeling, and flow bench technology. As a result, we reduced air intake restriction by 13% on the driver-side intake tract and 22.8% on the passenger-side intake tract. For proper filtration, this kit includes dual high-flow oiled air filters which provide improved filter surface area and improved airflow over the stock panel filters.

In addition to the flow benefits, our intake system provides a significant amplification of turbocharger spool and bypass valve venting. These enhanced sounds provide a new level of enjoyment, adding to the incredible driving experience you expect from a BMW M-Series.

The Mishimoto 2021+ BMW G8X M3/M4 S58 Cold Air Performance Intake is a complete bolt-on kit and includes all necessary components for an easy installation. As with all Mishimoto products, this performance intake kit includes our signature Mishimoto Lifetime Warranty.

Brand

PREPREG is a common term for a reinforcing fabric such carbon which has been pre-impregnated with a resin system. This resin system (typically epoxy) already includes the proper curing agent. As a result, the prepreg is ready to be laid into the mold without the addition of any more resin. In order for the laminate to cure, an autoclave production process is used, a combination of high pressure and heat.

  • Maximum strength and performance characterictics. In a hand layup production process, it is difficult to achieve 50% fabric and 50% resin content.  Typical hand laminates, even when vacuum bagged, end up with a significant amount of excess resin. Excess resin increases brittleness and reduces overall strength properties. On the other hand, most prepregs contain around 35% resin. This is ideal for maximum cured properties and generally impossible to achieve in normal hand lamination.
  • Uniformity and repeatability. The prepreg is of uniform thickness and each part coming out of the mold may theoretically be the same. Vacuum bagging technology may have some errors in processing, but prepreg ensures production consistency.
  • Reduce curing time. After the thermal curing cycle, no need to wait for the standard 48 hours can be fully cured.
  • Aesthetics. Although prepreg processing still requires mold preparation and demoulding, prepreg processing eliminates air bubbles, makes it easier to obtain a smooth, glossy surface as well as eliminates any seaming lines.
