When it comes to high-performance driving, we all know that braking performance is just as important as acceleration and cornering. So to gain performance from your factory brakes, our RP650 Front Brake Pads are an essential upgrade. Through extensive testing on road and track, the result is an advanced ECE-90 approved high friction material that delivers near-zero brake fade under high temperature use, yet doesn’t requiring a warmup period. In other words, a dramatic improvement in the braking department that still works perfectly in day-to-day driving duties.

Drive your car hard and the chances are you’ve experienced brake fade at some point. That’s where our High Performance RP650 Brake Pads come in. A simple replacement for your factory pads using the standard braking hardware, they deliver a much higher resistance to high temperature fade. This makes them perfect for fast road driving and even occasional track day use, yet without any compromise in daily driving.

A lot of our compound testing focussed on developing a pad that finds that sweet-spot between excellent cold bite and high temperature fade resistance. The result is a medium aramid fibre compound with friction coefficient of 0.42mu in the temperature range of 450 – 650°C.

This compound is the secret to how our high-performance RP650 brake pads provide superior stopping power and reliable performance under even the most demanding conditions yet without requiring a warmup period – essential for cars that have to perform perfectly in daily driving duties yet stand up to the demands of fast road and occasional track use.

As well as outright performance, another key development focus has been around perfecting pedal feel – resulting in progressive braking with unparalleled pedal response underfoot. The slotted and chamfered construction ensures quiet and smooth braking.

Meanwhile, our RP650 brake pads are designed to last longer than traditional brake pads, reducing the need for frequent replacements – even saving you money in the long run. This also means that the pads produce less dust than traditional brake pads, keeping your wheels cleaner and reducing the need for frequent cleaning.

Finally, it’s a legal requirement in most countries for brake pads to carry ECE-R90 certification – yet many other aftermarket pads do not. Not only is this ECE-R90 standard essential for legality (and potentially your insurance validity), this regulation gives you the peace of mind that the pads are tested and approved for cold performance, speed, sensitivity, friction behaviour, compressibility, shear and hardness. So, the pads will work just as well when cold as when up to full track temperatures.


Please note: if you are more serious about your track performance, we also offer the MMR Performance Track Pads (for the same car applications). These track pads are ideal for those who prioritise the ultimate track-day performance over all else, and are happy to accept less cold-temperature performance and don’t require the ECE-90 road approval.

FITTING INFO:

Bedding in: after completing installation, make a series of 10 stops from 60mph (100kph) to 5-10mph (10-15kph). At the end of each stop, immediately accelerate back up to around 60mph (100kph) again for the next stop (the exact speed is not critical).

As you decrease to around 5-10 MPH (10-15kph), it is not necessary to watch the speedometer, keep your eyes on the road and approximate your speed at the end of each cycle. Do not come to a complete stop, as you will imprint pad material onto the disc, risking a vibration.

On the 8th or 9th stop, there should be a distinct smell from the brakes. Smoke may be evident after several stops as well. Also, by the 8th or 9th stop, some friction materials will experience “green fade”. This is a slight fading of the brakes. The fade will stabilize, but not completely go away until the brakes have cooled.

Brand

PREPREG is a common term for a reinforcing fabric such carbon which has been pre-impregnated with a resin system. This resin system (typically epoxy) already includes the proper curing agent. As a result, the prepreg is ready to be laid into the mold without the addition of any more resin. In order for the laminate to cure, an autoclave production process is used, a combination of high pressure and heat.

  • Maximum strength and performance characterictics. In a hand layup production process, it is difficult to achieve 50% fabric and 50% resin content.  Typical hand laminates, even when vacuum bagged, end up with a significant amount of excess resin. Excess resin increases brittleness and reduces overall strength properties. On the other hand, most prepregs contain around 35% resin. This is ideal for maximum cured properties and generally impossible to achieve in normal hand lamination.
  • Uniformity and repeatability. The prepreg is of uniform thickness and each part coming out of the mold may theoretically be the same. Vacuum bagging technology may have some errors in processing, but prepreg ensures production consistency.
  • Reduce curing time. After the thermal curing cycle, no need to wait for the standard 48 hours can be fully cured.
  • Aesthetics. Although prepreg processing still requires mold preparation and demoulding, prepreg processing eliminates air bubbles, makes it easier to obtain a smooth, glossy surface as well as eliminates any seaming lines.
