The ACL Race Series Connecting Rod Bearing Set for the Porsche 911 (991) MA1.71 engine is built for drivers who don’t settle for “good enough.” This bearing set was made for those who push their flat-six hard—on track, backroad, or wherever the revs climb high and the oil temp follows. Porsche’s 3.8-liter and 4.0-liter MA1 engines are mechanical art, but like all high-performance units, they demand precision under pressure. That’s where ACL steps in.
These bearings use ACL’s proven tri-metal design: a steel backing for strength, a copper-lead layer for load support, and a fine overlay that keeps the oil film steady even under extreme heat and load. The result is smooth, predictable lubrication that protects your crank and rods through long sessions at high RPM. It’s the kind of engineering that keeps a race engine alive when everything else is running on the edge.
Think of it as quiet insurance. Every time you pull through the gears or hold it flat down a straight, these bearings help your engine stay cool, stable, and happy. They’re made from the same materials trusted by top-level motorsport teams—built to resist fatigue, maintain perfect oil clearance, and preserve that crisp Porsche response you bought the car for in the first place.
Installation is straightforward. ACL designed this set as a direct replacement for the MA1.71, so you get factory-fit precision without extra machining. It’s plug-and-play peace of mind for builders and enthusiasts alike.
If your 911 spends more time at redline than at cruise, this upgrade isn’t optional—it’s essential. The ACL Race Series bearings reinforce the foundation of your flat-six, keeping it smooth, strong, and ready for more. Because when the tach swings past seven grand and the sound turns sharp and metallic, you’ll want a bottom end that’s built to take it.
FEATURES
- High-performance upgrade for Porsche power: The ACL Race Series Connecting Rod Bearing Set delivers a tougher, longer-lasting solution for the 911’s MA1.71 flat-six engine. Designed to handle extreme heat, heavy loads, and the relentless stress of high RPM, these bearings bring track-ready durability to your street or race build.#
- Precision-engineered for Porsche performance: Built to tackle the bearing wear and oil pressure variations that can plague high-revving flat-sixes, ACL’s bearings ensure consistent lubrication and stability from idle to redline—mile after mile, lap after lap.
- Factory-grade precision: Each bearing is manufactured to exact Porsche tolerances, preserving correct oil clearances, maintaining stable pressure, and extending bearing life even during sustained high-load operation. The fit is seamless, the performance—immediate.
- Race-proven tri-metal construction: A hardened steel backing provides strength, the copper-lead core adds superior load support, and the precision overlay ensures a reliable oil film even under punishing thermal conditions. The combination delivers exceptional fatigue resistance and thermal control when the engine’s working hardest.
- Optimized bearing-to-housing contact: ACL’s non-tin flash surface promotes consistent fitment and alignment, minimizing distortion under stress. It’s a subtle but vital refinement that keeps everything running true, even when the revs and temperatures soar.
- Built for endurance and confidence: Proven in motorsport and endurance environments, ACL Race Series bearings reinforce the heart of your 911’s engine. They deliver the dependability, smoothness, and mechanical confidence that Porsche enthusiasts expect—whether it’s for spirited road drives, fast laps, or long-distance runs at full song.

PREPREG is a common term for a reinforcing fabric such carbon which has been pre-impregnated with a resin system. This resin system (typically epoxy) already includes the proper curing agent. As a result, the prepreg is ready to be laid into the mold without the addition of any more resin. In order for the laminate to cure, an autoclave production process is used, a combination of high pressure and heat.
- Maximum strength and performance characterictics. In a hand layup production process, it is difficult to achieve 50% fabric and 50% resin content. Typical hand laminates, even when vacuum bagged, end up with a significant amount of excess resin. Excess resin increases brittleness and reduces overall strength properties. On the other hand, most prepregs contain around 35% resin. This is ideal for maximum cured properties and generally impossible to achieve in normal hand lamination.
- Uniformity and repeatability. The prepreg is of uniform thickness and each part coming out of the mold may theoretically be the same. Vacuum bagging technology may have some errors in processing, but prepreg ensures production consistency.
- Reduce curing time. After the thermal curing cycle, no need to wait for the standard 48 hours can be fully cured.
- Aesthetics. Although prepreg processing still requires mold preparation and demoulding, prepreg processing eliminates air bubbles, makes it easier to obtain a smooth, glossy surface as well as eliminates any seaming lines.
